Hanne Troonbeeckx married in idyllic Ibiza: “I sang my own opening dance” | BV

BVHanne Troonbeeckx (43) can now call herself ‘Mrs Brans’. Last weekend she sealed her love with Steffen Brans (31) in idyllic Ibiza. Last week, the couple already married before the law in Hasselt.

Hanne Troonbeeckx sang in her opening dance herself. Listen to it here:

“The day went perfectly, partly because of our fantastic wedding planner”, Hanne tells us after her special day. “We chose Ibiza because we both love that natural atmosphere. Sun, sea, beach, palm trees and our best friends. We wanted to approach it very romantically and idyllically. The picture was completely right.” But Mallorca or another island could just as well have been the setting for their wedding, according to Hanne. “We immediately thought it was a beautiful location. We will return to this place forever and relive wonderful memories”, Troonbeeckx enthuses.

Hanne and Steffen initially wanted to keep the party intimate, but the guest list quickly got out of hand. The couple shared their special day with about 60 of their friends and family. Together they enjoyed a few days in Ibiza. “We left a few days earlier, together with our parents. That’s how we could do something quality time spend with them,” says Hanne. The friends could also count on a party earlier. “On Friday we invited our guests for a welcome drink, which turned out to be a super fun party as well.”

A special version of ‘The Power of Love’

At the wedding, Hanne provided a big surprise. She herself sang in her opening dance, ‘The Power of Love’ by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. “We heard the song on a trip to Paris early in our relationship. Since then it has really been ‘our’ song. When I listen to it again, it takes me all the way back to that moment, which brings back good memories.” A song for the opening dance was therefore not a difficult choice for the lovebirds. “I like to sing very much. I may not be the best singer, but I wanted to do something special,” says Hanne. To save herself stress on her wedding day, she chose to pre-sing the song. “We agreed to start the original song as we walked to the dance floor. Once we got there, the DJ switched to my version.” Only Hanne’s mother and a bridesmaid were aware of the surprise, the rest fell completely out of the blue. “It wasn’t about perfection at all, I just wanted to do something memorable for my husband.”

Steffen also surprised Hanne on their wedding day. “When I was getting ready, I got sweet messages from my husband every so often. So incredibly charming and sweet of him,” beams Troonbeeckx.

Even more sun, sea and beach in prospect

The party went on, because the day after the ceremony, enjoyment was also central. “Our parents left for Belgium again on Monday morning, after a nice dinner to discuss. Monday we did that again with some friends.” The island jitters don’t stop there for the newlywed couple. In July they fly to the Maldives for their honeymoon. “For us, that really is the definition of a honeymoon† While Ibiza still has a bit of that city feeling, in the Maldives you really have the idea that you are staying on a desert island.”
