Last year, the 48-year-old sued the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which organizes the Golden Globe award ceremony. HFPA members can vote on who receives the award, but have rejected Flaa’s application for membership in recent years without justification.
The American Critics Choice Association (CCA) has now decided to expand and recruit international journalists. Many will perceive the CCA decision as an attempt to take over HFPA’s former territory.
– I have fought for changes in HFPA for four years. When I sued in August, I was contacted by a lot of journalists in LA who say that they have been subjected to the same treatment as I have, Flaa says to VG, and adds that it feels like the ring has now ended.
Norwegian Oscar hostess
Flaa decided to move to the United States at the age of 33 and has met the biggest celebrities in Hollywood.
She has told Budstikka about hard work and described her career as “an extremely steep uphill”.
– The celebrities who are unsympathetic when you meet them, are probably like that towards others as well, so you have to try not to take it personally. Bad behavior never pays off, she told the local newspaper in a major report in 2019 in connection with her being the Norwegian Oscar host.
