A group of friends filmed themselves as they drove at full speed, ran a red light and collided with the front of a school bus in El Talar, Tigre, Buenos Aires, last Sunday. The incident was also captured by a municipal camera that showed the driver’s trajectory. According to reports, the driver had 0.68 blood alcohol content. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
The security cameras of the Tigre Citizen Protection Secretariat also recorded the moment of impact. The video shows the car driving on Route 197 towards the Federal Capital, and when crossing Panamericana, it passes a red light and crashes into the back of the bus that was about to turn.
An ambulance and police vehicles attended the scene, and when the driver was tested for alcohol, the Tigre Security Secretariat reported to THE NATION that he had 0.68 grams of alcohol in his blood. This exceeds the legal limit since the beginning of the year, and according to the alcohol level, he could be sentenced to six months in prison.
The video, taken by one of the occupants of the vehicle, shows laughter and shouting, and a woman is heard saying “I have a family waiting for me” before someone yells “It’s in red!”. After that, they hit the bus.
