Health: 4 hospitals and a military health school at the center of reflections in Assinie

As part of the reform of the security-training sector, a military programming law was adopted in the defense section aimed at improving the living and working conditions of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire. Thus, from February 4 to 6, at the Assinie Beach hotel complex, discussions were held on the construction and equipping of four new military hospitals in Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo and Daloa and a military health school in Abidjan, in order to strengthen the technical platform of these regions and improve the military health system.

The objective of this seminar is to improve the medical care of soldiers and their families. Operationally, it was a question of determining the orientations of the project for its proper implementation and sustainability.

Kalifa Touré, technical adviser in charge of infrastructure and equipment to the Minister of State, Minister of Defence, Téné Birahima Ouattara, indicated that the latter took an early interest in the problem of the health of the troops. This is why it has given a new impetus to the military health sector, by allowing the relaunch of this project with new partners.

For Kouamé Messou Noël, brigadier general doctor, director of health and social action for the armed forces, also chairman of the scientific committee, “this project brings hope and hope for our men engaged in the fight against terrorism. It guarantees them, through proximity, the assurance of rapid care in the event of injury”.

He is convinced that with the new partner, the Abidjan military hospital will be a real military health platform.

Mohamed Bouzoubaa, CEO of General Construction Works of Casablanca (Tgcc), structure in charge of carrying out this work, says that this program is part of South-South cooperation aimed at maintaining diplomatic relations between the Côte d ‘Ivory and Morocco.

The three military hospitals in the interior of the country will be identical in terms of their architecture and will include the same services. They will each have 100 beds and that of Abidjan, 150 beds, with a 50-bed oncology center for the management of cancer, a center of expertise in diving medicine, a burns department, a moral rearmament and a new military health school in Akrandjé.
