The victim’s former partner contacted the police to warn them that he had committed violence against his ex-partner in Béziers (Herault).
Several wounds on the victim’s body
A 37-year-old woman was found dead at her home on Monday May 16, in Beziers (Herault). The victim, mother of two children aged 12 and 17, was said to have been fatally stabbed, because several wounds were found in the chest. It was the police, contacted by the former companion of the thirties, who makes the macabre discovery.
In a press release, the public prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland, explained that the 40-year-old man warned the authorities that he had committed violence against his ex-partner. At the time of the tragedy, the children were at school, specifies RTL.
Arrested in the Aude
CCTV footage showed the 40-year-old arriving at the family home around 8 a.m. before leaving in the middle of the morning. According to Le Figaro, it could be a feminicide, because the assassination could have been committed by the ex-companion, indicated several judicial sources. The man was arrested in thehears Monday evening, said the prosecutor announcing that a judicial investigation for murder should be opened “in the next few days“.
A well-known man of justice
The suspect is very unfavorably known to justice since he has already been convicted several times. In 2008, the court pronounced 8 and 12 years of imprisonment against him in 2008 for several rapes. Released in July 2018, he was sentenced again in September 2020, for death threats against his ex-girlfriend. Despite the ban from justice, he returned to live in the family home when he was released in September 2021. He repeated death threats against the victim and was imprisoned again.
The first elements of the investigation pointed out that on February 22, the woman had been offered the installation of an anti-reconciliation bracelet, but she refused.
