Miles & More currently has very good availability for award flights in Singapore Airlines Business Class between Frankfurt and New York – including very low surcharges!
One of the most popular Fifth Freedom flights in this country is celebrating its comeback: Singapore Airlines will again fly between Frankfurt and New York after the USA announced the opening for November. Miles & More mile collectors can especially look forward to it, because the availability for award flights in the very good business class of Singapore Airlines is currently excellent, as One Mile At A Time reports. The low taxes and fees make these flights even more attractive.
Singapore Airlines has a special partnership with Miles & More
Singapore Airlines recently created a happy mood among travelers when the Star Alliance member announced that it would be resuming the prestigious route between Frankfurt and New York. On this so-called Fifth Freedom Flight, however, “only” a Boeing 777-300ER is used instead of an Airbus A380, as was the case before the pandemic. Nevertheless: Frequent flyers shouldn’t be sad, because Singapore Airlines also offers a great on-board product on board the “Triple Seven”, especially in Business and First Class. As these are known to be a bit more expensive when paid normally, mileage collectors can now sit up and take notice. Availabilities are not only good through Singapore Airlines’ own miles program, KrisFlyer, but also through Miles & More.
Singapore Airlines is usually quite stingy with award availability through partner airlines’ frequent flyer programs. But the airline has had a special partnership with Lufthansa, or Miles & More, for many years, which means that the Kranich program can look forward to significantly more availability of Singapore Airlines award flights than other programs. And this is exactly what the route between Frankfurt and New York now benefits from, because this is where there are currently high award flight availabilities.
Miles & More attraktiver als KrisFlyer?
With Miles & More, 56,000 miles are due for an award flight in Business Class. In addition, there are sometimes very low taxes and fees – especially with the start in the USA. On a flight from New York to Frankfurt in Business Class, you pay the miles mentioned and only 5.60 US dollars (over 4.80 euros) in taxes and fees, which is of course extremely attractive. If you also consider the better on-board and service product compared to Lufthansa, the whole thing becomes even more attractive. In contrast, Lufthansa charges the equivalent of over 625 euros in taxes and fees on the same route. However, these are usually very high on one-way award flights from the USA.
But even with departure from Frankfurt, the taxes and fees of less than 120 euros with Singapore Airlines are still very low. On comparable flights with Lufthansa, calls are made from 340 euros.
The most attractive option for most people is likely to be a return flight anyway. Here, too, the availabilities are just as good. 112,000 Miles & More miles as well as an attractive 122 euros in taxes and fees are due.
Of course, these award flights, usually with even more availability, can also be booked through Singapore Airlines’ own frequent flyer program KrisFlyer. In this case, however, that is not quite as attractive, with a total of 144,000 miles required for a return flight in Business Class, plus the 122 euros in taxes and fees.
However, many first class availabilities can be found via KrisFlyer for award flights with Singapore Airlines on that route. At 280,000 KrisFlyer miles, this option is also correspondingly expensive. Here, too, a surcharge of 122 euros has to be paid.
By the way, you can easily transfer your Reward Points from American Express to KrisFlyer, but also to Payback and thus to Miles & More. With a Miles & More credit card, you can collect miles directly from the Lufthansa frequent flyer program. This is how you can quickly and easily collect enough award miles for a business class flight with Singapore Airlines between Frankfurt and New York!
Conclusion on Singapore Airlines award flight availability
The above examples clearly show that booking award flights with Singapore Airlines on the popular Fifth Freedom route Frankfurt-New York with Miles & More is not only possible in large numbers, but is also very attractive. This is of course primarily due to the comparatively very low taxes and fees. Even redeeming it with KrisFlyer is not as attractive as with the Miles & More frequent flyer program.
