The NASA InSight lander was sent to Mars in November 2018. Since then, it has managed to register more than 1,300 earthquakes, but such a force has never been recorded (the previous record was 4.2 degrees on August 25, 2021). The data collected on May 4 is still being analyzed. Unfortunately, we all have to be patient now, as the lander is currently in a special safe mode. Currently, it is winter on Mars, which, combined with the increased level of floating dust, significantly reduces the amount of sunlight reaching the lander’s power panels.
