“Holidays are always complicated times”, worries Thomas Diart of the EFS

In September the French Blood Establishment faced a drop in donations and launched a national appeal to donors. Call relayed in Picardy and heard by the inhabitants, since out of the 1100 pockets needed per week, the EFS takes about 850, against 650 only a month ago. It is still too little, according to Thomas Diart, EFS responsible for Picardy and guest of France Bleu Picardie Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He reminds that donations are no longer necessarily made by appointment, and that the health pass is not mandatory. If the situation improves a little, the concern remains with the All Saints holidays and with the approach of the end of the year holidays, “always complicated times for us”, explain Thomas Diart, who calls for solidarity.

The EFS lacks blood, but also personnel, in particular doctors. Two positions are to be filled in Picardy, in Villeneuve-Saint-Germain and in Saint-Quentin. Nurses are now trained to be able to manage a collection alone, without a doctor.

To find a donation center and make an appointment, everything is done on the EFS website: https://dondesang.efs.sante.fr/
