Hot afternoon in Burgos in the shade of books

The Book Fair is in full swing. / PCR

The public accompanies the booksellers on the first weekend of a fair that fills with authors and novelties

Readers, many readers are approaching the booths of the Plaza Mayor on the first weekend of the Book Fair. The people of Burgos were eager to meet again with literature, after the rain and the wind, on a much more than unpleasant day, forced the booksellers to fold their sails on April 23 and return to the bookstores.

The good temperatures are accompanying these first few days to a fair, which will run until June 5 and which is loaded with authors, with a dozen great presentations, as well as an intense program of activities for adults and children. There is a literary offer for all tastes, as publishers have put up a good number of novelties for sale.

And Burgos booksellers are there to recommend. Many authors arrive looking for a specific book, the latest title by one of their favorite authors, that book they have recently heard about or the one that one of the authors who will be at the fair these days is coming to present. Others ask for recommendations, something that isn’t boring, crime novels, a new author… surprise me.

Fairs are for that, to search the stands, discover new authors, ask for recommendations, contact authors, talk to them…. And to buy books benefiting from a succulent 10% discount, which is never too much, and that can only be obtained in the booths of the Plaza Mayor, where the booksellers enjoy their annual festival.

cultural program

Of course, do not think that the Burgos Book Fair has moved to the Plaza Mayor, forgetting the Paseo del Espolón. There are the two large tents that house children’s activities (storytelling, workshops, contests…) and those for the adult public (presentations, catalibro, performances…). The signatures of the authors have their specific position in the Plaza Mayor.

Santiago Posteguillo was in charge of opening the fair on Thursday, with a huge success from the public. Gonzalo Giner has been this Saturday and Ángel Martín arrives on Monday, one of the most anticipated authors. The Carmen Mola triumvirate will be on May 31, while Paloma Sánchez-Garnica will visit us on June 3 and Laura Fernández will visit us on June 4, closing Nacho Ares on June 5.
