Houcine Ammouta’s list gets people talking

Kiosk 360. Houcine Ammouta unleashed an avalanche of criticism at the announcement of the final list of players summoned to compete in the Arab Nations Cup. The weak presence of Botolists is singled out, according to the daily Al Akhbar from which this press review is taken.

The coach of the national football team, Houcine Ammouta, unveiled on Monday the final list of the twenty-three players selected to take part in the FIFA Arab Cup which will be held from November 30 to December 18, can we read in the daily Al Akhbar November 24.

This list includes four players from Wydad de Casablanca, three from Raja de Casablanca, while the teams of AS FAR, FUS, Renaissance Berkane and Ittihad Tangier are each represented by a single player. The rest of the convened squad evolves in Egypt and in the championships of the Gulf countries.

Ammouta’s list sparked fierce reactions on social media. Indeed, he was criticized for the summons of Mohamed Ba Maamaer who returned from an injury, as well as Mohamed Amsif, the second goalkeeper of FUS, in place of Reda Taghnaouti, the brilliant goalkeeper of Wydad of Casablanca.

Fans of the national team, on the other hand, were divided over whether to call up players who play in foreign leagues, and several of them criticized Ammouta for not giving Botola players a better chance.

In addition, the national team will make the trip to Qatar aboard a plane chartered especially for the occasion, in order to avoid travel fatigue for players. In the meantime, the 12th day of the championship which will precede the start in Doha is a source of anxiety for Ammouta who fears the possible injuries of the selected players.

Morocco will seek to win this tournament and cash a check for 50 MDH, against 30 MDH for the second finalist.
