How Europe dominates the rest of the tennis world

The world sport of tennis has lost its diversity. The ten best players all come from Europe – and the total dominance will not change in the short term. Coach Günter Bresnik gives reasons.

It’s a sobering inventory, and not just for John McEnroe. Just before the Laver Cup, the test of strength between Europe and the rest of the world from Friday in Boston, the world rankings in the top 10 show all Europeans. And so it comes that McEnroe, as captain of Team World, heads a squad of underdogs on home soil, although on the other side with Novak Djoković, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem, four top-class players are missing in this year’s edition of the explosive continental comparison.
