The Merengue is preparing to face a new final of its favorite contest. We review all the editions that managed to win.
There is less and less to go before the ball begins to roll under the orbit of the grand final of the UEFA Champions League, the most attractive event in the world at the team level. In that context, Real Madrid y Liverpool they will come face to face with the mythical Parc des Princes stadium in the city of Paris as the setting.
Those commanded strategically by Carlo Ancelotti will arrive at this decisive stage after having passed three stages almost miraculously. First in the round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain after finding themselves on the ropes, then in the quarter-finals against Chelsea and then in the semi-finals against Manchester City, also in incredible form.
For their part, those led tactically by Jürgen Klopp will do so after leaving Inter Milan, Benfica and Villarreal on the road, without so many shocks and with more clearance in each and every one of those series. In turn, the recent runner-up in the English Premier League managed to win the 18 points in dispute in the group stage.
But, focusing on what strictly has to do with Real Madrid, there is no doubt that the Champions League is the favorite contest of the Spanish capital team. Everything that happens in another area is of minor importance, since all the senses of the Merengue are always focused on the “Orejona”.
How many Champions Leagues did Real Madrid win?
When we talk about Real Madrid we mention the team that has won the UEFA Champions League the most times in history and by quite a bit. It is that Casablanca managed to impose itself in nothing more and nothing less than 13 editions of the aforementioned continental championship. Yes, six more than Milan, his closest pursuer. Crazy.
At the same time, in the past decade, Real Madrid won four editions of the Champions League: in 2014, 2016, 2017 y 2018. In turn, the other nine Merengue titles took place in 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966, 1988, 2000 y 2002. The clear dominator of the tournament, for which it is considered the greatest team in the world.
And, as if all this were not enough, another shocking fact has to do with Real Madrid’s percentage of effectiveness reaching the Champions League final. It’s that he did it 16 times, so only three times he fell in the decisive match. It happened in 1962 against Benfica, in 1964 against Inter and in 1981 against Liverpool.
