How to make walking the only exercise you need

  • When. It is very effective to walk on an empty stomach, 30 minutes just after waking up, and then have breakfast.
  • Time or intensity? Both are important depending on the objective. In any case, I always recommend walking 30/40 minutes after training to burn more fat.
  • The land. It is advisable to make “changes of scenery”. Choosing steeper routes and alternating different terrain such as dirt or asphalt will increase the intensity and therefore the difficulty.
  • Do you train? You will get more benefits by walking if you do it after an effective training routine, be it bodybuilding, crossfit or some other guided activity.
  • Sneakers. Wear running shoes, it will help you prevent injuries, have a better footprint and control impacts. It is important to buy some adapted to your type of foot and tread.
  • Extra exercise. To enhance muscle toning, complement your walks with guided sessions such as HIIT, Tabata, functional training or group classes.
  • Step counters. They will serve to motivate you and see that you have achieved the objective.
