HP Editorial Tour – These are the new models in the fall lineup

HP was kind enough to give us a personal presentation of some new models from the VICTUS, OMEN and ENVY series. I summarize the most important specs and features of the new models for you.

HP VICTUS – Your gaming career begins here

This year’s VICTUS devices use the same design language as the 2021 models. There are two large ventilation slots on the back and another large opening on the underside of the device. Bang and Olufsen is also a permanent partner when it comes to audio.

Regarding the hardware specifications, the HP VICTUS models have Intel i7 or Ryzen 7 processors from AMD, up to 16GB RAM, 4th generation PCIe interfaces, 144Hz Full HD displays and up to 1TB SSDs, standard gaming fare so in 2022. The graphics cards are also used on two tracks, i.e. both NVidia and AMD fans get their money’s worth. The maximum possible is an RTX 3060 Ti, so the VICTUS series is the entry-level class in the gaming sector. The dual fans and heat pipes ensure sufficient cooling at a relatively low volume.

Nevertheless: due to the entry-level components, HP consciously decided not to install any high-end graphics cards, such as an RTX 3080, since the customer would not get the performance of such a flagship graphics card anyway, since the cooling components of the The performance could not be up to par, or the result would be a sudden hearing loss due to the fan noise. Accordingly, HP communicates to prospective buyers: “If you want more graphics power, buy an OMEN”.

HP OMEN est Nomen in Sachen Gaming

In the case of the HP OMEN models, some connections on the chassis have been relocated to the rear of the device in order to create space for additional fan openings and thus ensure even better cooling. Since a maximum of one RTX 3070 Ti with 8GB is toiling away in the HP OMEN 16, or in the larger 17-inch brother an RTX 3080 also conjures up liquid WQHD images on the 165Hz display with a brisk 3ms response time, this cooling capacity is also sorely needed.

The arithmetic servants in the HP OMEN devices also know how to inspire. Even a Core i9 with 5Ghz, 24MB L3 cache, 14 cores and 20 threads or a Ryzen 9 processor (4.9GHz, 16MB L3 cache, 8 cores, 16 threads) you can have it installed in your OMEN laptop. You can pump up to 32GB DDR5 RAM with a clock rate of 4800 MHz into the towing device and the games can also be loaded at breakneck speed with an NVMe M.2 SSD with up to 2TB capacity in the case.

The OMEN Gaming Hub, the dedicated software now also has internal options for undervolting and overclocking. The RAM memory can also be overclocked in the gaming hub.

If you have some small change rolling around, you can also invest up to approx. 3500 to 4000 euros in the 17 inch maximum configuration. But that’s probably how it works Cyberpunk 2077 absolute preem.

HP ENVY – Oh leck: OLED!

The premium multimedia line HP ENVY again relies on the high-quality look and the pleasant feeling of an aluminum chassis with convertible function, as well as a simple yet elegant design language in a 13-inch 16:10 form factor. The series offers up to 20 hours of battery life and can also be purchased with an OLED display with 90 or 120 Hertz. A stylus can also be purchased as an accessory for about 70 euros, which can be attached to the side with a magnet.

If the camera used to be deactivated by software, which resourceful hackers could have avoided, the new ENVY generation has a hardware shutter button that actually slides a film over the lens and thus protects against unwanted glances.

Charging is no longer done via a proprietary connection, but following the trend via USB-C, which is why two such ports are now available in the devices.
