More and more details are emerging about the Huawei P50 series, which will be introduced on July 29. Huawei shares a teaser video for the P50 Pro on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. It’s mainly moving images from images we’ve seen before, but some new images are also shown.
Observant viewers also notice a number of details. With most premium smartphones, the camera specifications are visible on the lens. For example, you can regularly read something in the direction of ‘100x zoom’ or ‘108MP’ on the lenses. In this case, the Huawei P50 Pro video shows the following: ‘VARIO-SUMMILUX-H1:1.8-3.4/18-125ASPH’.
Vario-Summilux is a type of lens developed by Leica. The reference to 1.8-3.4/18-125 refers to the aperture and lens size. We know that the aperture of the cameras is between f/1.8 and f/3.4. The size of the lenses is between 18 mm (possibly wide-angle lens) and 125 mm (possibly periscope lens).
ASPH again refers to an aspherical lens. When used at a higher aperture, pictures become sharper and visual problems are reduced.
This information gives us a better idea of the camera setup of the Huawei P50 Pro. It seems that the device can produce decent photos. The 125mm camera may be able to handle 5x optical zoom and the aspherical lens should improve the camera’s shots.
The Huawei P50 series will be unveiled on July 29, so it won’t be long before we know what the new devices will look like. The event on July 29 is only intended for China, so we may have to wait longer for the device to appear in Europe.
