Watan al-Youm: The Jerusalem Center for Political Studies, in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, completed a foundational training course for more than fifty young men and women (18-35 years), from 17 political parties, distributed in 11 governorates. The course lasted for six days, and was divided into three workshops. Each session lasted two days, and the percentage of female participants was about 33 percent of the total number of participants. The participants represented a microcosm of the different colors of the Jordanian political and social spectrum.
The first workshop focused on the foundational concepts of civil-democratic culture, such as: the civil-democratic state, citizenship, identity, citizens’ rights and duties, the concept of social contract and constitutional culture. Professor Eva Abu Halawa and Dr. Ahmed Al-Jaribee took turns training in this workshop. .
The second workshop dealt with the legal framework for general national and partisan action, with a special focus on political parties and elections, the law on the right to information, cybercrime and public meetings. Dr. Saddam Abu Azzam and Dr. Ahmed Al-Ajarma conducted training in this workshop.
As for the third workshop, it dealt in detail with the rules and standards of democracy in the life of the internal political party, where the participants were able to crystallize the ten most important criteria, after which they would review the internal regulations of their political parties to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and submit proposals and recommendations to their parties to develop these systems and bring them closer to best practices. The training was conducted in this workshop by Dr. Amina Maa Al-Ainin, a former member of the Moroccan Parliament for two consecutive terms on behalf of the Justice and Development Party, and Professor Oraib Al-Rantawi, Director of the Al-Quds Center for Political Studies.
Outside their agenda, the three workshops witnessed political “chats”, following the completion of the working sessions, which dealt with the most important political developments in Jordan and the region around it, as well as an in-depth search for the image and features of the Jordanian partisan map after the completion of the process of correcting the situation of political parties. according to its new law.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Edmund Ratka, Director of the Konrad Adenauer Office in Jordan, conducted a dialogue with the participants, during which he presented some aspects of the German partisan and parliamentary experience, and listened to the recommendations of the participants regarding the development of training programs carried out by the Foundation and the Center. Certificates of participation were also distributed. on participants and posts.
It is worth mentioning that this training course is the second in the last two years, within the activities of the “Jordanian Academy for Political Education”, where last year one hundred young men and women from partisans were trained, and twenty-five of them were given an advanced training course on the strategic planning skills of the political party.
Since its establishment, the Al-Quds Center has been providing training courses for party and civil society activists and political actors. During the past twenty years, it has completed dozens of training courses on various titles and skills, benefiting thousands of Jordanians, both men and women, based on its belief in the need to empower individuals and build the capacities of party and national public work institutions. .
