The vast work in progress at the Douarnenez hospital is starting to be clearly visible. Launched on March 29, the demolition of the old perinatal center at the entrance to the site has just been completed on schedule. This is the first major phase of the restructuring and extension of the establishment, which is due to be completed in January 2023.
The second stage should start next month, and run until June 2022, with the construction of a new, much larger building on the same location. It will include the future reception hall, the consultation platform, the ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation platform and ten full hospital beds for follow-up cardiological care. A connecting gallery is built to connect the new construction to the existing short-stay building. An extension on two levels that will greatly change the look of the hospital.
Such a project is not without consequences on access to hospital services. A one-way traffic direction has been set up for access to the main building, in order to secure and limit movement in front of the site. The budget for all the works is around 8 M € HT, including 1 million financed by the Regional Health Agency.
