The situation on the border of the two countries aggravated after a terrorist attack on February 14 killed representatives of the Indian military police. The extremist group Jaish-e-Muhammad (“Army of Muhammad”) claimed responsibility for the attack. After that, the Indian army attacked the positions of militants in Pakistan.
Pakistan later said that the military shot down two aircraft of the Indian Air Force and detained the pilot, who was then released. Indian servicemen shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter in response, after which Pakistan closed its airspace.
