Báez Sosa case: the rugbiers, for the first time before the Court of Dolores
The Dolores court, on January 2, began the trial against the 8 rugby players accused of murdering Fernando Báez Sosa at the exit of a Villa Gesell nightclub in January 2020.

Graciela Sosa and Silvino Báez, Fernando’s parents, requested life imprisonment for the defendants after the first hearing in Dolores.
Silvino, in his defense to Justice on that day, told how it was the moment to go to recognize his son’s body: “It was hard because a part of me was lying on a stainless steel tray with my head blown off.”.
With his story, Fernando’s father made several in the room cry, including the prison guards who were guarding the accused.
The parents of the rugbiers defended their children during the trial
María Paula Cinalli, mother of Blas Cinalli; Rosalía Zárate, mother of Máximo Thomsen; Mauro Pertossi, father of Ciro and Luciano; Héctor Benicelli, father of Matías; and María Alejandra Guillén, mother of Enzo Comelli, went through the Court of Dolores, where they minimized the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa.
María Paula Cinalli defined it as “a disgrace”, while Rosalía Zárate spoke of “a nightmare”.
Benicelli, father of Matías, for his part, maintained: “We live harassed. They wanted to hit my daughter and my wife in the street. I hear how they insult my wife through the media. I hear that when they hurt my son in prison they won’t defend him. There is not a day that I don’t wake up with insults. The pain does not heal with more pain”.

Guarino, the young man accused by the rugby players of participating in the murder of Fernando Báez Sosa
Juan Pedro Guarino, one of the two young people who were accused and later dismissed in the investigation for the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, assured that he felt “shame and a lot of pain” after the attack by the rugby players.
He also indicated that he “never knew” why he was accused of the crime carried out on January 18, 2020.

A few days after the third anniversary of the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, President Alberto Fernández received the parents at the Casa Rosada.
Graciela Sosa, Fernando’s mother, described the meeting as “warm” and assured that Fernández “committed” to give them “his support as President and as a father.”
“We are very pleased with him for receiving his support, which is very important. He treated us as if we knew each other, as a friend,” said the woman.

Silvino and Graciela Báez Sosa organized an “interreligious prayer” and a “solidarity collection” to remember their son in the city of Dolores, within the framework of the third anniversary of Fernando’s crime.
“I expect exemplary justice for Fernando. I don’t want revenge. I just want justice and that Fernando can rest in peace. And that we have a little peace in our hearts,” asked Graciela, the victim’s mother.

After his argument in the trial for the crime of Fernando Baez Sosa, Fernando Burlando surprised by showing all the members of his team in public. The lawyer for the parents of the young man murdered in January 2020 posted a photo on Instagram and one particular detail drew all the attention.
“Great team and he always accompanies us”wrote the lawyer along with an image in which he posed with his team on the street in front of the Dolores courts, accompanied by a stray dog that approached them for the occasion and which they received with greetings and signs of affection.
The lawyer’s post received more than 70,000 likes, including many celebrities such as Claudia Villafane, El Polaco and Ariel Puchetta. Among them, many users referred to the appearance of the stray dog as a sign: “Look how he looks at you. Thank you, thank you, thank you team! Justice!”.

Lucas Pertossi: “First of all I wanted to apologize to Fernando’s family for everything caused. I am very sorry for what happened, I am very bad, very sad since that day for everything that happened. I want to apologize to all the people I affected. I never intended to kill anyone or participate in any murder, not at all. I want to say thank you for this moment, for listening to me.”
Blas Cinalli: “I want to apologize to all the people affected by what happened, it is something that hurts a lot to this day. I am very sad. In reality there was no plan or anything that is said.”
Matthias Benicelli: “First of all I want to apologize to Fernando’s family. I never wanted this to happen, I never had any plan or intention to kill anyone. Every day I think about it and I am sorry for what happened. I hope I can turn back time , but you can’t. But I want to make it clear that I never meant to kill anyone.”
Cyrus Pertossi: “I wanted to say that I am very sorry for everything that happened and please apologize to the family, for having been in the place, in a fight where a boy our age died. It is very ugly, I will never want to kill, It’s something that affects me a lot. Someone our age died, it’s very ugly, and it’s very ugly that they accuse us.”
Ayrton Violaz: “I want to apologize to Fernando’s family. I never thought something like this would happen. I am very sorry for everything. Thank you very much for this space, God bless you.”
Enzo Comelli: “I sincerely want to apologize to Fernando’s family and to my family. And to all the people affected by this aberrational event. A person of our same age died, who, like us, had his whole life ahead of him. I want to apologize to all those involved, not only the families, but all those who gave testimonies, those who had to go through this ordeal. And I am always available”.
Luciano Pertossi: “First I want to apologize to the Báez Sosa family and to anyone who has been affected by this. I want to say that I never wanted to participate in a fight in which a person died. A thousand apologies for everything bad. I feel that what you decide goes to be the right thing to do. I pray to God that it’s a good thing for everyone.”

Maxim Thomsenone of the eight accused rugby players -the most complicated- for the crime of Fernando Báez Sosa, he cried at his last words at the time of the second round of arguments and bankrupt, manifested: “I want to apologize to the family, I wish I could turn back time“.
And then he added: “I wanted to apologize, but sometimes apologies are not enough, but I wish we could go back in time and reverse all this, but we can’t do it and we have no choice but to apologize. I am very sorry and thank you for giving me this space. We will always abide by what you decide ”.
