MOSCOW, February 14 – RIA News. The head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, sharply criticized the initiative of his American colleagues to introduce a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.
Americans want "to be exceptional in everything," he noted.
He also stressed that US policy is contrary to the theses advanced by senators in justifying the bill.
On the eve of the Democrats and Republicans have introduced a document on restrictions against the banking and energy sectors, as well as against the national debt of Russia. The reasons cited include "interference with elections in the United States", "malicious influence in Syria" and "aggression in Ukraine."
In addition, it was proposed to introduce sanctions against the shipbuilding sector, if Russia violates the freedom of navigation in the Kerch Strait.
Moscow has repeatedly denied the charges on all these topics.
