In the Gobi desert, the skeleton of a sauropod was found

A group of Japanese and Mongolian scientists discovered the bones of a large dinosaur in joint research on the territory of the Gobi Desert. This was reported by the agency Jiji. According to experts, the remains belong to a herbivorous dinosaur of the sauropods and lived 70 million years ago.
According to experts, the bones with a high probability belong to the sauropods, and their age reaches 70 million years. These herbivorous dinosaurs lived in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods on all continents. Their length can exceed 20 m, and the weight ranged from 15 to 30 tons. They could easily survive in dry climates and other extreme conditions, according to TASS.
Among the found bones are the main part of the hip and the tail part of the skeleton, including a large thigh bone with a length of 1.55 m. Scientists say that this was one of the largest specimens found in this region during the excavation of the late Cretaceous soil layer.
During the expedition, they were able to find a fossil footprint of a two-legged herbivorous dinosaur from the Ornithopoda order. Its dimensions are 86 to 115 cm, which is close to record numbers in the history of the excavation. In this case, the dinosaur was probably a rather close representative of his group and reached a length of 17 m – 5 m more than the famous predator Tyrannosaurus.
At the beginning of this year, a research group from the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido presented a skeleton of a dinosaur from the Hadrosaurid family, which in its depictions is the most holistic in the country. Altogether it consists of 157 bones.
As previously reported, scientists in England have found the remains of the earliest direct human ancestors
