In the Headlines | [EN DIRECT] Important fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral

7:20 pm: A fire started Monday at the end of the day at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Images, on social networks, show a large plume of gray smoke that escapes from the building, but also large flames.

The fire seems to be spreading. The roof is attacked by the flames.

We still do not know if there are any victims.

According to firefighters, the incident is "potentially linked" to the renovations to the building that are underway.

The fire took in the attic of the cathedral, the most visited historical monument in Europe. According to the spokesman for Notre-Dame, the fire was reported around 18h50.
