In the Pskov region, about 40 percent of the population plan to vaccinate against the flu. As the correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda-Pskov reports, Olga Kotina, head of the department for the organization of medical and preventive care for the population of the State Committee for Health and Pharmacy of the Pskov region, announced such data at a meeting with journalists on September 28. In total, 280,000 people are planned to be vaccinated, 50,000 of them are children.
"Now the region is experiencing an increase in the incidence of non-influenza etiology, especially in children," she noted. – It is important to inculcate our population in this inter-epidemic period in order to cover the largest number of people and create a collective immunity. And in this case even those who are not vaccinated will not get sick.
Olga Kotina stressed that the vaccination will not protect against the flu by 100 percent.
"But it will protect against severe forms of influenza," she said, and recalled that in the spring of 2018, the flu caused death in a pregnant woman in Pskov.
