In the video, a specialist reveals the seriousness of the earthquake that occurred in Jizan, and draws attention to an important matter

Al-Marsad newspaper: The head of the Saudi Society for Earth Sciences, Dr. Abdullah Al-Omari, new information about the occurrence of an earthquake west of Abu Arish, measuring 2.99 on the Richter scale, stressing that the tremors that occur in the region are not strong.

Al-Omari said in an intervention with Al-Ikhbariya channel that the areas of “Abu Arish, Jazan, Sabya” have earthquakes in the oceanic crust, the thickness of which is 10 km, and the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6 kilometres.

Al-Omari explained that the reasons for the occurrence of the earthquake are due to the fact that the region is located on salt domes, and the seismic chances are high, and the feeling of it is continuous, but it has no effect at all.

And he continued that what calls for attention, by virtue of the presence of Jazan University and the region on the verge of an economic revolution, must take into account the seismic safety coefficient, and thus implement the building code strongly in each of Jazan, Abu Arish and Sabya until reaching the path.
