In Tours, the teddy bear hospital reassures children

As already exists in Caen, Nice, or even in Nantes, the teddy bear hospital association is now being created in Tours, under the impetus of the Association of Franc medical students and the Carabins of Tours. The principle is simple: play down the medical world for the youngest and allay any fear of the white coat.

« We would like to see this evolution of their vision, that they are less afraid “, explains Zéliha, a medical student in Tours and secretary of the association. ” This is often the case with children of this age, adds Camille, also a student and communications officerthe doctor is (…) the vaccine, a clinical examination which is long, which is not very pleasant ».

To do this, the association will set up educational workshops in the multipurpose hall of Les Halles in Tours, on March 13 and 14 ; workshops that will be led by medical students. Pupils from four schools in the Tours conurbation will take part… with their teddy bears!

« They are offered a fun course with different stands; the general practitioner, the pharmacist, the cardiologist, the nurse, etc. They bring their cuddly toy and it is the cuddly toy that will be taken care of by the caregivers “says Zéliha. ” And that will be prepared in advance, because we are going to meet the children a week before », underlines Camille.

The medical students in charge of the association L’Hôpital des Nounours will therefore meet the children before, but also after the educational workshops, to find out how they feel. An event which has, moreover, vocation to be repeated.
