

New Kpalimé market is now operational. The commercial infrastructure was indeed inaugurated in the name of the Head of State this Thursday, March 23, 2023 by Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé.
This is an infrastructure covering 10 hectares, built with the support of German cooperation through KFW as part of phase 1 of the Decentralization Support Program (PAD 1).
Built for 26 months under the direction of AGETUR-Togo, the new market offers nearly 2,000 seats for traders. It includes storage warehouses, shops, halls, coal sales sheds, rehabilitation of the old administrative block, sheds transformed into shops, development of internal roads and paved car parks, construction works sanitation, fencing of the entire market area, toilet blocks, fire safety and other related services.
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Togo, Mathias Veltin explained that the PAD aims in particular to strengthen secondary towns, in particular Kpalimé, Tsévié and Sokodé so that they become growth poles and contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the populations.

The ceremony of handing over the commercial infrastructure to the local authorities took place in the presence of the President of the National Assembly, Mrs. Yawa Djigbodi Tsègan.
After expressing their gratitude to the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé, the beneficiary populations thanked the government and promised a good use of the work which will allow them to better sell their products and live on their income.
“We salute the attentive and permanent listening of the Head of State which makes it possible to make the happiness of traders. Proof that the only concern of President Faure Gnassingbé is the inclusive and participatory development of communities throughout the national territory. At the end of the extension works, the Kpalimé market offers unique conveniences to users”, declared the Minister of Social Action, the Promotion of Women and Literacy, Adjovi Lolonyo Apedoh. -Anakoma.
Moreover, the realization of this jewel reinforces the strategic position of the city of Kpalimé in trade.
