Recent data on tourism in Cuba confirmed this Saturday that the route undertaken by the authorities marks an upward march towards recovery plans for the recreation sector in the Caribbean archipelago.
It was learned that the most recent part of the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) of this country outlined the increase in the arrival of foreign tourists to Cuba during May, an evidence of the path of recovery of this economic sector, reported Press Latin.
Until that month, the island received 811,479 travelers, a figure that represents 591.7% compared to the same period in 2021. This figure is equivalent to 674,330 more travelers. In the January-May period, the first issuing market turned out to be Canada, followed by the Cuban community abroad, the Russian Federation, the United States, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Poland.
It is worth mentioning that Cuba reopened its doors to tourism on November 15, after a time of recess, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, at which time the authorities dedicated themselves to hotel investments, repairs, and increasing the values of the products it offers.
