Inhabitants of a seaside poultry factory have caught flu from wild birds.
Scientists have determined that the outbreak of avian influenza at a poultry farm in Primorye is caused by a virus from wild birds. This is reported by “Vesti: Primorye” with reference to “Interfax” . It has been established that the anthrax of the epizootic outbreak was the influenza A virus subtype H9N2, which is often found in populations of wild birds and has a low epidemic potential, the Federal Research Center for Biodiversity of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences told.
It is noted that low-virus strains of influenza A (H9N2) virus are often found among chickens and ducks in East Asia, including on the Korean peninsula. The specialists of the center participated in the decoding of the epizootic outbreak and the scientific and methodological support of anti-epizootic measures for avian influenza.
Recall, an outbreak of avian influenza was detected in LLC “Nadezhdinskaya ptitsa” on May 8, the H9 virus was confirmed by laboratory testing of biomaterials from dead birds. It is established that the virus is not dangerous to humans. The work of the poultry factory is suspended, the enterprise is to destroy 235,911 thousand birds.
