The social networks Instagram and Snapchat temporarily refused to integrate with the Giphy service after users found in the “stories” a racist hyphus. This is reported by The Verge. The image, which caused a wave of criticism, was discovered by a Twitter user under the nickname Lyauna Augmon on the request of “crime”. She published a screenshot and noted in the recording of Instagram founder Kevin Systrom. The hypha depicts a monkey, a twisting drum with numbers. Above it is the inscription «Nigger Crime Death Counter», and next to the man who says: «Keep Cranking Bonzo, the Numbers Just Keep on Climbing» (continue to turn, Bonzo, the numbers just grow). Snapchat and Instagram suspended the integration of hyphas before the end of the investigation. Representative Giphy said that the picture was deleted immediately after it was discovered. He added that the service prohibits users from posting abusive or obscene content, but this time there was an error in the moderation system. Support for GIF in Instagram was launched on January 23, 2018. Snapchat introduced a similar function on February 20.
