On Wednesday morning there was a fire in the attic of a garage in Interlaken. Nobody was hurt. There was major damage to the building. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, shortly before 5:45 a.m., the cantonal police in Bern received a report that a fire had broken out in the attic of a garage on Geissgasse in Interlaken. This led to a heavy and widely visible development of smoke. Around 25 members of the Bödeli fire brigade were able to bring the fire under control and extinguish it.
Nobody got hurt; an ambulance team was called out as a precaution. There was major damage to the building. Geissgasse was closed for several hours to extinguish the fire. A fire watch was posted for safety reasons.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the property damage are the subject of ongoing investigations.
