Investigations into False Comments by Amazon and Google

The British Competition Authority (CMA) has launched a formal investigation into the Internet giants “Google” and “Amazon” to monitor any possible violation of consumer protection laws by not doing enough to deal with false comments through their services.
An unofficial investigation over more than a year has raised FCA concerns that the two US groups have tolerated “false or misleading” product comments.
The authority indicated that “false or misleading criticism of products may have an impact on the evaluation given to any company and the way it appears” on consumer search engines.
