Sergio Ortiz and Irene Cabrera were the ones who won the second edition of the Baena City Triathlon. The competition, which took place last Sunday and began around 10 in the morning, was organized by the Sports delegation of the Baena City Council, together with the support of local clubs.
Almost the 200 participants began the challenge in the waters of the Vadomojón reservoir, in which they had to swim for 750 meters and later, the triathletes traveled 20 kilometers that took them to Albendín, to then go to Baena. The second section began with a 5-kilometre race at the Ciudad Deportiva Juan Carlos I, where the finish line was located and the award ceremony was held.
The men’s podium was made up of Sergio Ortiz, in the first place, who achieved a mark of 01:08:05, just 15 seconds later José Luis Dávila would arrive, and the third position was taken by Alejandro Carrasco, who reached the finish line more than two minutes after the leader.
On the part of the female participants, Irene Cabrera from Córdoba took first place, marking a time of 01:23:04, a more comfortable victory with respect to the men since the second classified, Susana Pineda, finished with more than two minutes apart. Marisol Gutiérrez got the third place, arriving more than three and a half minutes later than Cabrera.
This event was also held with two paratriathletes: Manuel Garnica, the best of both, who did a time of 1:20:05 and Eduardo Oliva who registered a mark of 01:35:17 to complete the test.
