Israel destroys Hamas tunnel that reached its territory

Israel’s army said on Sunday that it destroyed a tunnel built from Gaza that entered Israeli territory. Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus, a military spokesman, reported that the new tunnel was connected to a network dug by Hamas militiamen in the northern Gaza Strip and entered Israel near the Nahal Oz community. It is the fifth Hamas tunnel that Israel destroys in the same number of months. Conricus added that the passage was near where there were recently massive protests that, according to Israel, Hamas is using as a pretext for the attacks. He said that Hamas began to build the tunnel after the war of 2014. For Israel it is a priority to stop such tunnels since Hamas infiltrated Israel during the war.
