In Turin, a man attacked two policemen by hitting them with an iron bar while shouting "Allah Akbar". Brought to the police station, he shouted insults against President Mattarella and also against Salvini. The news was released by the Minister of the Interior, but the confirmation of the Turin Police Headquarters also arrived, which specified that he is working on the activities necessary for identification.
Salvini commented on the episode explaining that "one of the policemen was injured in the head, the other in his hand. Our thanks and our wish for a speedy recovery go to them: I am personally following the story. No tolerance for fools and violents who attack the police, "concludes the minister.
The attack took place in via Cuneo, on the northern outskirts of Turin, where agents intervened following reports from some residents. For several days the man had been sleeping in a makeshift bed under some sheds. When the agents arrived, he resisted attacking them with an iron bar, which was seized.
The mayor of Turin, Chiara Appendino, expresses «the proximity of the City to the two police officers attacked and injured this afternoon in Turin. To them – adds the mayor – along with the wishes for a speedy recovery, thanks go to the important and difficult job of protecting the territory performed daily at the service of the city community, even on festive days like today ».
