Repsol awarded a 430 million euro contract to Tecnimont’s Italians to expand the industrial complex in Sines.
The Italian company will be responsible for the construction of the two polymeric materials factories in the Repsol complex, the Italian company’s parent company, Maire Tecnimont, announced today.
The contract includes engineering services, supply of materials and equipment, and installation and construction activities. The project should be completed in 2025 and the two new factories will have the capacity to produce 300 thousand tons of polymers each year.
The expansion of Repsol’s industrial complex in Sines was announced by the company on 8 July, and involves an investment of 657 million euros that will “expand its range of differentiated products and make the Sines Complex one of the most advanced in Europe, due to its flexibility, high degree of integration and competitiveness”.
“With this investment, which AICEP has accompanied since the beginning, the Repsol Group has become one of the largest national investors. The expansion of the Sines Industrial Complex is the biggest industrial investment of the last 10 years in Portugal. It will make it possible, after its completion, to directly improve Portugal’s trade balance,” said Repsol in a statement.
