Stress in the Hungarian camp. In the “Group of Death” it could easily qualify for the Final Four on its own field. Then there had to be won against European champions Italy.
Hungary started the match hesitantly. Goalkeeper Gulacsi was still half asleep, but was lucky in the opening minutes. The home team got away well, the Italians increased the pressure.
Halfway through the first half, the keg of goalkeeper luck was empty. Gulacsi came too late with his intervention, Raspadori took advantage and simply pushed the lead into an empty goal.
On the other side, Donnarumma was playing an excellent match. The tall Italian was unbeatable and kept his team straight several times. The ball just wouldn’t go in for the home team. When Dimarco doubled the score shortly after the break, the spring broke completely.
Italy thus qualifies for the Final Four, along with Croatia and the Netherlands. Tomorrow, Spain and Portugal will determine who will receive the last ticket.
