“Like many employees of the Bank of Lithuania, due to the ongoing restructuring, I received a resignation card and decided not to pursue other positions in the bank. I submitted this request on Monday, “J. Govina told BNS.
“It’s time to close one stage of life and pursue goals elsewhere, but I don’t want to comment on that yet,” she added.
J.Govina has been the head of the Financial Market Supervisory Authority since December 2019, until then she worked as an advisor to Marius Jurgilas, a member of the Central Bank Board, for three years, and was also responsible for implementing the innovation and financial technology (fintech) sector development strategy.
J.Govina LB has been working since 2012, when the State Insurance Supervisory Commission was attached to the central bank, where it has been working since 2009.
At the beginning of September, the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Gediminas Šimkus announced the restructuring of the central bank, abandoning the four largest branches. According to the head of the LAC, the aim is to abandon the excessive hierarchy and transfer responsibility for decisions to the people who make them.
“The Bank of Lithuania is currently undergoing structural restructuring. Decisions related to them regarding changes in the work of any employee at the Bank of Lithuania have not yet been made, ”the central bank told BNS on Tuesday.
The new organizational structure of the LAC will take effect on November 1.
