TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Tim Formula E Operation (FEO) doesn’t worry about the unpredictable weather conditions in Jakarta, sometimes it’s scorching hot but sometimes it rains with strong winds. FEO Safety, Health and Environment (HSE) Consultant Richard Bate said he had anticipated the weather conditions when the electric car race was held on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
“We are preparing various plans and mitigations to deal with various weather conditions,” said Bate as quoted by Antara, today.
Bate said FEO has experience organizing races in various countries with various seasons. They are ready to face situations like the weather in Indonesia.
To ensure the safety of spectators, FEO will direct everyone down from the stands if the weather is very bad, for example in case of strong winds. Last weekend, strong winds caused one of the roofs of the spectator stands to collapse.
“This process is the same as in other events, for example in Mandalika. This makes no difference. So, we are very ready,” he said.

FEO Event Director Gemma Serra said the frequent rains that hit Jakarta in the last few days would not disturb the Jakarta E-Prix.
“If it’s just regular rain like what has happened recently, it won’t be a problem for the race,” he said.
According to Serra, the Formula E Jakarta track is designed with lots of drainage that works well.
However, in the event of extreme weather, such as hurricanes and lightning for a long period of time, so that the marshals and racers see standing water on the track, the race will be suspended.
Serra believes that the weather in early June will be quite good, and will not interfere with the running of the Jakarta Formula E race.
