Japan’s 5G mobile phones increase by 40 times year-on-year, the reason is actually related to the iPhone

After the iPhone 12 series was released at the end of last year, it has achieved good sales worldwide. Among them, Japan has been more successful in driving local 5G growth. Japan's 5G mobile phones increase by 40 times year-on-year, the reason is actually related to the iPhone

Japan’s 5G mobile phone shipments last year were 40 times that of the previous year, from 269,000 units in 2019 to 11 million units, bringing the local 5G mobile phone market share to 33.6%. MM Research believes that the growth of 5G mobile phones is related to Apple, because the iPhone accounts for half of Japan’s smartphone shipments in 2020.

The boom continues with the launch of the iPhone 12 that supports 5G connections. It is estimated that by March 2022, the population of 5G mobile phone users will double. At present, only the mmWave of the iPhone 12 series listed in the US, and others only support Sub-6GHz. Some analysts believe that the iPhone 13 launched this year will change.
