Jazz takes back its rights with Arcad

While culture has suffered deeply from the coronavirus pandemic and the distancing rules that have been imposed to push it back, it has not however given up. In Anglet, the Arcad association continued against all odds with the preparation of its annual jazz festival. As in previous years, it will have two parts. The first, at the Quintaou theater, from Thursday September 17 to Saturday September 19, 2020 and the second, free, with Jazz en fête in the park of the castle of Baroja. On the programming side, it will be the opportunity to see sure values ​​with in particular the Cuban saxophonist Irving Arcao on Friday evening accompanied by the trumpeter Carlos Saduy, or on Saturday evening, the pianist Laurent Coulondre in trio with Jérémy Bruyère (double bass and André Ceccarrelli (drums ) in the first part of the evening and André Charlier (Drums), Benoît Sourisse (Hammond organ) and Louis Winsberg (Guitars) from 10 p.m.

The 2020 edition of the Anglet jazz festival is also an opportunity to make great discoveries or to see rising values ​​such as the young pianist Dexter Goldberg, Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m., surrounded by Jérémy Bruyère (double bass ) and Inor Sotolongo (percussions) and Franck Durand (drums). In the second part, at 10:30 p.m., Joël Hierrezuelo (Guitar, Vocals and Percussions) in quintet with Felipe Cabrera (Double bass), Pierre de Bethmann (Piano), Lukmil Perez (Drums), Sylvain Gontard (Trumpet).

Jazz on the grass

Quality and discovery are also on the menu for the free Jazz on the Grass, Sunday September 20, 2020 in the park of the castle of Broja with Jean-Marie Ecay trio, the Basques of Maaj 5tet and the Bordelais of the Soul Jazz rebels.

Around the festival

Around the Anglet jazz festival, Arcad offers several activities. Its premises at 4 avenue de Maigon will host a photo exhibition around the musicians of Marylène Cadaud until Thursday, September 24. We will also be able to see jazz on the big screen, with the screening of “Green Book” by Peter Farrelly (2018), at Le Royal cinema 8 Avenue du Maréchal-Foch, in Biarritz, Wednesday September 9 at 8 pm and in preview , “Billie” by James Erskine (2019), Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 8:30 p.m. at the Atalante cinema, in Bayonne.

Finally, the Quintaou d’Anglet library offers Wednesday September 9, 2020 at 3:30 p.m., “You will take a good story”, special Jazz, intended for children from 4 years old (by reservation) on 05 59 52 17 55. Saturday 12 September 2020 at 3:30 p.m .: As part of the Hour Music, discovery of a musical movement: Jazz. At the Pompidou gallery, intervention by Pascal Segala, Jazz chronicler. In case of cancellation

Faced with the uncertainty caused by Covid 19 on the organization of shows and despite the precautions taken by the organizers to meet health requirements, Arcad has chosen to anticipate the hypothesis of a cancellation. The association ensures that people who have withdrawn one or more places will be immediately informed by email. It emphasizes that spectators will have the possibility of having their seat (s) refunded in full or in part or of voluntarily waiving the reimbursement of their ticket, to support the artistic and cultural community as well as the festival. The amount of the ticket will then be transformed into a donation allowing a tax reduction of 60%.
