First Lady Jill Biden will arrive in South Florida this afternoon, one day before the one-year anniversary of the Surfside building collapse. the dr. Biden will visit the public commemoration at the Champlain Towers South site and she is expected to give a speech.
Biden is expected to participate in the event organized by the city of Surfside. In the collapse of June 24, 2021, 98 people died.
During this Thursday, Biden will visit a federally qualified health center in Palm Beach County as part of the Biden administration’s “Cancer Moonshot” initiative.
- You will visit FoundCare Palm Springs, a federally qualified health center offering breast and cervical cancer screenings with support from the Florida Promise Fund.
- The First Lady will tour the facility and then discuss the importance of private sector commitments and collaboration in the effort to end cancer.
- The Florida Promise Fund was co-founded by Nancy Brinker, who was named a 2011 Goodwill Ambassador for Cancer Control by the World Health Organization.
- The Fund partners with community health centers to improve access to breast and cervical cancer screening and provide patient navigation services for local women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.
