If there was any doubt that the Philadelphia 76ers had reached the end of The Process, it was probably a blockbuster deal on Saturday afternoon.

The Sixers have agreed to trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who will give them all-star guard Jimmy Butler in return for strikers Robert Covington and Dario Saric, the Jerryd Bayless, and a second 2020 draft election several reports,

Minnesota will also send Justin Patton to Philadelphia.

The deal will mark the end of Butler's consistent tenure with the Timberwolves. Minnesota acquired Butler in a June 2017 trade with the Chicago Bulls. He scored an average of 22.2 points per game last season, while helping Minnesota secure its first playoff spot since 2005. But in the offseason, Butler expressed his frustration over the status of his contract and reportedly filed for a four-year extension offer of $ 110 million in July. As the preseason approached, Butler called for a trade and tensions between Butler, coach Tom Thibodeau, who also oversees the team's basketball activities, and management, as well as with his teammates. This continued in the season, although Butler's performance in court apparently did not seem to suffer. Minnesota's four-time All-Star exit scores an average of 21.3 points in 10 games.

Butler's expected move to Philadelphia makes the Sixers an increasingly popular choice for reaching the conference finals with the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. Butler not only moves to the top two overall # 1 points at the center of Karl Anthony Towns and guard / striker Andrew Wiggins, but also to Joel Embiid and point-keeper Ben Simmons, both of whom are high lottery picks. The deal is expected to be completed on Monday. Butler's debut should be against magic on Wednesday.

Philadelphia exchanged two starters in Covington and Saric, both solid three-point shooters. Butler shoots the three for his career only at 34 percent, but reaches from the long range, a much higher rate of 37.8 percent.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Sixers and Butler plan to work on a potential long-term contract, but can not formally enter into negotiations until Butler decides on the season for the current year. Butler is in the fourth year of a $ 92 million five-year contract signed with Chicago in 2015. This season he will earn $ 18.7 million. If he does not decide, he will give up $ 19.8 million next season.
