As part of an academic celebration, the Johannes Kepler University Linz appointed the physicians Monika Wimmer-Röll and Andreas Pasch as honorary professors.
Univ.-Prof.in Priv.-Doz.in Dr.in Monika Wimmer-Röll studied biology at the University of Konstanz and habilitated at the University of Basel in anatomy, histology and embryology. In 2018 she accepted the call to the JKU and was significantly involved in the establishment of the Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Medical Faculty in the areas of teaching and research. The laudatory speech was held by Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Maren Engelhardt, head of the Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology.
private lecturer dr medical Andreas Pasch is a specialist in internal medicine and nephrology. His research focus is the pathophysiology and therapy of pathological vascular calcifications. Born in Switzerland, he has been contributing his expertise and experience as an associated scientist in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology at the JKU Medical Faculty since 2019. He also gives lectures and is involved as a lecturer in the training of young medical professionals. Univ.-Prof. dr Jakob Völkl, Head of the Institute for Physiology and Pathophysiology, gave the laudatory speech.
The award was presented by Vice Rector Elgin Drda and JKU Senate Chairman Hanspeter Mössenböck.
Award of honorary professorships
The Senate of the Johannes Kepler University Linz can appoint people as honorary professors upon application by the Rectorate. Prerequisites are outstanding performance in professional practice in the application or development of scientific results and methods as well as the ability, based on relevant experience, to impart this knowledge to students in the context of courses. The appointment is made for a period of four years; an extension by a further four years is permitted without restriction.
