John McDonnell brands Sir Winston Churchill a "villain"

JJohn McDonnell has described Sir Winston Churchill as a "villain" in comments that caused widespread outrage.

The Shadow Chancellor was attacked by the grandson of the War Minister as "Poundland Lenin" when describing a man who regularly leads the polls of the largest Briton.

Mr. McDonnell chose to ignore Churchill's achievement in saving Europe from the Nazis, and criticized him instead for a controversy over an Edwardian strike.

His comments are considered particularly badly judged when they come while Labor is embroiled in anti-Semitism in a new dispute. Churchill is celebrated worldwide because he has defeated Adolf Hitler, a man who has a policy of annihilation …
