Johnson retained the title in Houston

The American Steve Johnson achieved his third ATP title on Sunday by winning his compatriot Tennys Sandgren in the final of the 50th edition of the Houston ATP 250, played at the clay court of the River Oaks Country Club and in which he revalidated the crown achieved in 2017 Johnson premiered his record in 2016 at the grass tournament in Nottingham (United Kingdom). After that, he has won twice in a row in Houston. In the final, Steve Johnson, sixth favorite, beat Tennys Sandgren, eighth seed, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-4. Johnson shouted champion after beating five compatriots, something that has not happened since the Peruvian Jaime Yzaga won the title in 1991 beating all American players.
