President Joko Widodo invites people to pray and worship from home for a while. He conveyed the invitation when attending the event #PrayforHome organized by the Ministry of Religion.
Jokowi reminded that the Covid-19 pandemic is still a challenge that must be faced. He said this condition is not only experienced by Indonesia, but also in various parts of the world.
“From our homes, let’s bow our heads, take a moment of silence, pray from home, we pray, and try to make this pandemic test end soon,” said Jokowi at the event. #PrayfromHome which aired on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel, Sunday (11/7).
Jokowi said the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic was a national ijtihad. He said all elements of the nation must work together to resolve the pandemic.
The former mayor of Solo hopes that the community will participate in overcoming the current conditions. One of the efforts that can be done by the community, according to Jokowi, is to do activities and worship at home.
“Convince your family and the closest environment to stay at home,” said Jokowi. “Overcoming the Covid-19 issue is our national ijtihad today because it aims to save our lives and benefit us all.”
The government tightened restrictions with the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). This tightening is in effect in 137 districts/cities until July 20.
One of the rules that apply during Emergency PPKM is the restriction of activities in places of worship. The government asked places of worship not to hold congregational worship activities during Emergency PPKM.
