Judge confirms that FGR requested arrest warrant against Cabeza de Vaca

Iván Aarón Zeferín Hernández, control judge of the Federal Criminal Justice Center residing in the Altiplano prison, State of Mexico, confirmed to a federal judge in Tamaulipas that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) did request a arrest warrant against Governor Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca.

In official letter 215/2021-ZH, sent to Faustino Gutiérrez Pérez, Eighth District Judge residing in Tamaulipas, Zeferín Hernández indicated that the FGR requested the arrest warrant against the politician on May 1. However, on the 18th of the same month, he denied the injunction against the crime of equal tax fraud.

He also pointed out that the records of criminal case 139/2021 are already available to be integrated into the amparo trial promoted by the governor against his capture.

The arrest warrant was requested by Elizabeth Alcantar Cruz, agent of the Public Ministry of the Federation, attached to the Specialized Unit in Investigation of Operations with Resources of Illicit Origin and of Counterfeiting or Alteration of Currency, of the Sub-Attorney Specialized in Investigation of Organized Crime .

Subsequently, the FGR requested the arrest for crimes of organized crime and operations with resources of illicit origin.

Covers warranty

Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca deposited 100,000 pesos that was imposed as a guarantee for the provisional suspension that protects him from being apprehended by the FGR to continue in force.

Faustino Gutiérrez reported that the state president made the deposit, which is why the precautionary measure will remain firm until June 7.

“Therefore, the provisional suspension granted in the order of May 24, 2021 continues to take effect, which must be communicated to the responsible authorities, for the legal effects that may arise,” the agreement details.

On May 27, Cabeza de Vaca made the procedure through the deposit ticket number N903920 issued by the National Savings and Financial Services Bank.
