An American man was urgently evacuated from a Nebraska court on Monday after slitting his throat during his murder trial. According to local media, he has been hospitalized and his days are not in danger. The trial should resume on Tuesday, and the accused will appear handcuffed.
Aubrey Trail, 52, is accused of choking and dismembering a young woman with the help of her partner Bailey Boswell, who is due to be tried in the fall. Both face the death penalty.
On the fifth day of his trial in a Saline County courthouse, he stood up screaming, "Bailey is innocent and I curse you," before he plants an object – a razor blade or a pen – in his throat, reported journalists present at the hearing.
He swears he strangled the victim "accidentally"
According to images broadcast by local TVs, he was transported unconscious on a stretcher. His condition was not known in the middle of the afternoon.
In December 2017, the body of Sydney Loofe, 24, was found in pieces in garbage bags. The young woman had disappeared 19 days earlier, after meeting Bailey Boswell via the Tinder app. During her interrogation, Aubrey Trail claimed to have strangled the young woman "accidentally".
