Julie Roy appointed head of Telefilm Canada

The producer and director of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Julie Roy, becomes the new Executive Director of Telefilm Canada.

Appointed by the Minister of Canadian Heritage, Pablo Rodriguez, she will begin a five-year term from April 3, 2023.

Julie Roy has nearly 30 years of experience in the Canadian film industry. During her career, she produced some fifty animated films and designed numerous marketing campaigns.

Since May 2020, she has been Director General, Creation and Innovation at the NFB, where she oversaw all of the NFB’s production studios in the country, as well as the distribution, marketing and merchandising units.

Prior to this appointment, she headed the Creation and Innovation division.

“His in-depth knowledge of the industry and his unifying and mobilizing leadership will guide the agency into the future. I take this opportunity to thank Francesca Accinelli, who is acting as general manager,” said Pablo Rodriguez on Monday in a press release.
