* The current spokesperson and general secretary of the PSOE of Santa Lucía de Tirajana presented his candidacy for mayor in the primary process opened by the political formation. Ojeda faces this process as the only candidacy presented, with the majority support of the militancy and the organic structures of the PSOE.
Saint Lucia on September 20, 2022.- Yesterday afternoon, Julio Ojeda Medina presented the necessary documentation to formalize his candidacy for mayor of the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, at the party’s regional headquarters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Julio Ojeda proceeded, to the regional headquarters on Juan XXIII Street, accompanied by the representatives of his candidacy Olga Cáceres Peñate and Veronica Suárez Pulido. There were, supporting Ojeda’s pre-candidate, members of the local executive, militants, supporters and public office bearers of the PSOE such as Sebastian Franquis, Insular Secretary and Advisor of Public Works, Housing and Transport of the Canary Government, Guacimara Medina and Olaia Morán, Councilors of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Maribel Santana, Director General of Housing of the Government of Canaries, among other personalities representing the PSOE in Gran Canaria.
Julio Ojeda assured that he faces this challenge with renewed illusions and with the certainty of being the sensible and coherent alternative for the next municipal elections. “No one hides that this legislature has been truly complex due to the context in which it has been developed. Nor is it less true that political instability and the lack of a project for Santa Lucía de Tirajana have condemned our municipality to a setback of scandalous proportions.”, recognized the candidate, and added “now is the time to step forward to courageously reverse this situation”.
The Secretary General of the PSOE and leader of the opposition in Santa Lucía de Tirajana affirmed that “I can’t think of anything that someone could feel more proud of than being the mayor of their municipality and, above all, the mayor of their people. I can think of no better government than the government of the people, that faces the future, as people expect us to, with development, future, stability, prosperity and security”.
Once the candidacy has been proclaimed, Ojeda must obtain the necessary endorsements to consolidate his proposal and officially become the socialist candidate for mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
